newbie maxima

i didnt necessarily just get my maxima.. but i have a job now and the money is comin in slowly.. and i was thinkin bout hookin up my maxima.. and was wondering what i should do as maybe a first step...
i have a 97 auto maxima se, pearl white coloring with 68k miles, with everything stock.. also i wanted to change it to 5 speed.. i was wonderin how much it would cost to get that done and if its worth it

also some other questions i want to ask.. i want to get a new hid kit for my headlights.. cuz the stock is too dull for me.. i was lookin for something that had blue in it.. since im goin with a white/blue theme for my car..

also are ground wires worth it for a beginning "mod"?

A front strut brace would be good, then a drop. I think since you have se springs a slight drop would hold up pretty well, like Tein h techs with the se struts. I've been riding on intrax and se struts for about 3 years, no problems. Then get some rims if you're going for looks first.

So strut brace about $40+ depending on brand cheapest is on ebay they all do the same thing.
Lowering springs about $150 plus install, but you can change yourself or with a friend after some read up.
Y pipe is an excellent hp mod for about $180+ install, ditto on installing yourself with some read up.

Congratulations on the low-mileage SE! Why didn't you buy a 5-speed in the first place? You might have been hard pressed to find a 97 5-speed SE with such low mileage, however.

Consider the stainless steel Budget y-pipe as one of your first mods.

Read the Stickys or you'll be prone to permanent OWN3-4GE

That's some damn good mileage for the car though.

I would do this ..
Y/MEVI/00VI/JWT ECU/ maybe cams, or VQ35.

you should have just waited for a 5spd, that would have saved you time from converting your car to stick, but as far as mods, best mod for power will be the ypipe then lower your car for get rid of the nasty 4x4 look, and everything else can come after. intake, catback etc...

y would raise the car up to add antoher suspension mod on...the whole point of lowering is to handle better and that is what strut braces are for too....so to answer NO u dont raise the car up to add a strut brace and they dont blow out struts.

i just heard and read something about that....
yes handling better is to lower, but strut braces are for reduction in chasis movement right??

im just thinking that by raising the struts are more free of any stress and pressure, on the 2 sides and therefore u can just mount it, then lower the car down...

then again thats why im asking this question.. thanks..

If you do not plan on lowering the car, an anti-sway bar would be very nice. It is a very noticeable improvement.
