is stock y-pipe a keeper?

just found out my dad threw away my stock y-pipe! is was so mad at first cuz isn't it like a $1k part? but then on second thought, i just put in the budget stainless so it should be fine but i just didn't want to throw it away. Is this as bad as it seems or did he clean up wasted garage space?
Just tryin to put my nerves to rest

yeah, i guess. i'm just worried about how thegasket or whatever on my budget SS was welded a little bit crooked. the rearward header was welded flat, like a 'T' (the horisontal line being the gasket, and the vertical being the downpipe) while the front header seemed to have a slightly angled 'horizontal line' it isn't sitting at 90 degrees. it still seemed to bolt in fine and i crawled under while it was running and didn;t seem to leak...i guess... does this sound like a problem waiting to happen, or close enough? i tried to call them friday but they were closed. would they replace it? and if they did, i guess my car would be grounded with my OEM pipe gone.

Once I get my Warpspeed Y-Pipe, I'll give you $20 just to take the stock one out of my garage to save some space...

The stock y pipe is garbage. It is useless and should never be looked at again.

Are these HP gains with the new aftermarket y-pipe factual? Please give me some dyno sheets to look at. I think custom maxima claims almost 25HP gain just from the y-pipe? Also was curious if anyone has had problems with Budget Y-pipes, they are much cheaper compared to cattman or stillen. And cattman claims that Budget pipes break a lot. Also is F-pipe and y-pipe the same, cause I think that is what cattman calls there's.

I kept my OEM y-pipe when I bought my Budget stainless steel y-pipe last June. I checked at the time and the OEM y-pipe was about Cdn$1,200 including tax. I am hard pressed to believe you can buy a new 4th Gen y-pipe for US$300 as someone stated above.

I am keeping mine in case I fail emissions, which I haven't had to go through yet.

i got a question for everyone! im still new at this and im about to start modding,i think. is calling budget the only way to order a y-pipe from them or is there a way through the website? how much are they? r y-pipes just as effective without putting headers on as well? thanks guys

If you want to deal with Budget, just call the 1-800 number and talk to a live warm body. I dealt with a woman last year, can't remember her name, and she was very helpful. I also found their customer service to be excellent.

From what I hear the fastest way is to call Budget and order it in that way. Last time I checked it was somewhere along the lines of $193US and $250CDN. Well headers for our car are mighty expensive and is a hella of an install.

cattman -vs- budget -vs- custom maxima. All I know is the price difference. I have heard the "bees in a can noise" can come from budget. Cattman claims to be the supierior y pipe, at the superior price. And now custom maxima just came out with their own, and they still offer cattmans. Let me know which one everyone recommends, I was considering cattman just because normally you get what you pay for.

Buy the Budget stainless steel y-pipe, no bees in a can noise. Put the difference you saved on not buying Cattman in your gas tank.

It seems like half of the guys here with Budget y-pipes have the "bees in the can" noise. The other half, doesn't.

Why take the risk? Not worth the time, effort, and aggravation if you get the buzzing sound. Personally, I went with the Cattman y-pipe and I'm lovin' it.

I would not say it was anywhere near 1/2 and 1/2 for budget or warpspeed. I have heard of a few cattmans with the bees. They all have claimed to have fixed the problems with new flex sections but everyonce in a while one might pop up.

I am not saying Cattmans aren't worth it to you, but $150 is a nice difference in price when most people with budgets and warpspeeds are actually happy with their pipes.

I keep EVERYTHING. You never know when you will want to change something back, return the car to stock to sell it, return the car to stock to diagnose, pass emmissions, perform tests, use as a loner while fixing/modifying, etc., etc.
