Am I the only one...???

I look at everyone's pictures and see beautiful clean paint jobs.

To my knowledge my paint is factory and their are scatches (from lil kids in the neighborhood)and dings (shopping carts and people trying to move bicycles in my tight garage) everywhere.

Do you guys have blemishes that just aren't noticeable?

I need to remove a horrible scratch guard from my front bumper that previous owner had put on.

I regret fully cannot always be with my car to protect her, so what do you guys do?

my paint is in pretty good condition. It's still the factory paint There's a smug on the back where I shaved the emblem off and it's pretty noticable. (I think I left the hair dryer on there a bit too long lol) also there is about a 6inch gash on the back right of my car from some idiot from school that keyed it....bastards.... . No matter what you're paint will be scratched and torn up. It's a matter of how much you take care of it and clean it.

I (knock on wood) have not been keyed yet. and im considering getting a buffer to remove the GLE residue on the back.

were pinstripes a factory option or totally after market? (you know that line of sticker that goes all the way around the car)

I hated the pinstripe on my max, I took it off within a week of owning it, looks a lot smoother without it...

I've got paint chips, a couple scratches, and some little dents in the hood. Oh, and a little chunk of my bumper is missing - I'm guessing somebody bumped in to me while they were backing up. I'd love a new paint job but these aren't very noticeable imperfections unless you look closely.

my car looks extremely clean in pictures:

When you see the car up close and in person you can begin to notice the 9 years worth of scratchs and dents. I try and keep it as clean as possible but some things just wont come out. She will soon be getting repainted, so hopefully i wont have to deal wit the huge scratchs along the rear quater panel or on the trunk.

Dont worry, your not the only 1 with blemishes. My dad rubbed 2 "freckles" in my hood with rubbing compound. It touched up with paint but when we rubbed it, it pulled it right of.

I think my car looks VERY clean for a 97 with just over 100k on it, even in person for the most part. There are 5 cars in my family, all of which are 97s except for my dad's cars, a 2004 Lexus and 1972 Stingray. My 97 is in better condition than our other two '97 vehicles, but it still looks better in pics than in person. So no, you aren't the only one. Cars almost always look better in pictures because most imperfections won't show up due to how the camera is focused, the lighting, etc...

No car has perfect paint, especially older ones like the 4th gen maximas. Everyone has their worry-spots on their car.

uhhh, just peel it off from the front where the two lines meet.....it's quite simple, then wash your car to get rid of the marks it leaves...

I haven't tried to just pull it off, does it it leave that much residue if it does come off. It's a 97 so has the thing set to long on the paint? I have claybar and everything if that would help. and the stripe is kind of worn out, and broken in some parts, it's a used car in PA, known for being rough on cars.

And as far as dents and scratches go, I'm sure everyone has them as these are older cars and most people probably bought them used, and noone knows what the other owners did to them. My car especially. A 97 is an 8 year old car!! Most of these kids on the ORG couldn't even drive when the cars were made.

I have no dings and no scratches at all on the body of the car. The paint is pretty close to perfect, even after 100,000 miles of NJ roads.

Both bumpers have seen better days. I'm probably going to refinish them before spring is over.

I've got dings, and dents, and scratches, scrapes. Everything except my roof, and hood, need either new paint and/or some filler.

No major accidents.

Dont feel left out.

Can anyone give me an estimate?

My buddy(drives a 328i) and I named black cars the 6pm cars. They always look the best during that time because they shine a lot better and you can't visibly see the scratches.
