Get in car.
Lock all doors.
Put key in and out of ignition 6+ times in less than 10 sec. If the parking lights flash, you have a factory alarm.

Do you have a blinking security light near your interior lights brigtness control (to the right of the steering wheel)?

Keyless entry/alarm was available in every 4th Gen. It was part of the comfort and convenience package on the GXEs. I don't remember if it was standard on the SEs, but it was standard on the GLEs.

He is talking about using the actual car key - you are talking about the key fob aka. keyless remote.
