CEL doesn't come on when key turn...
I noticed my CEL doesn't come on when I turn the key. I figured the blub might be the cause. I tried to swap the bulb and see if that's the case. The CEL doesn't come on no matter which blub I swapped. I peeled the plastic that holds the copper wiring to see if it burn out. Nothing!
What could be the cause of this?
I'll try and take the whole thing out. Maybe I might miss something.
Anyone know the size/type of bulb we use for the CEL, OIL,SEATBELT,BATTERY?

Autozone will not have those bulbs. They are a dealer only item. Call up Jerry Rome - they can get them for you. The bulb assembly includes the little plastic base that the bulb is secured into. Hope that helps.
oh, thanks. I was at the dealer yesterday. hmm, I should of ask for the bulbs too. I was there to get a speed sensor. They charged me $40 for the sensor and my mechanic charged me $65 to install it. I could of install the sensor, If I knew where it was located.
FYI, the speed sensor is locate near the starter. You need to jack up the car to get to the sensor.

You changed the bulb that works at least at its original location but the CEL didn't turn on. Did you try to put the CEL bulb at other location to see it turns on there?
It's possible that even a new bulb will not work at the CEL location. I would check the electrical circuit with a multimeter first before buying a new bulb.

I did a little testing and it seems to be electrical circuit problem. I have no more options but to leave it alone for now. I'll check the manual to see if there's more info. Definitely a pain in the @ss when I bring my car for inspection. New York requires the CEL to be working at all time. Any sensor problem will automatically fail the inspection.
Two of the bulb were burnt out. I replace it in the future.

You dont need to buy the bulbs from the dealer, Autozone has the bulbs, one reason the CEL light might not be on is because the ecu settings are turned around, meaning there is a little spot on the ecu you turn clockwise or couterclockwise to make adjustments, if you turn it too far right it will turn the CEL light off totally. Check that if you have tampered with that.

Thanks for your help. Let me try it.

I have the same problem....so i put turn the car to the on position, turn the screw all the way left, the right but not all the way? and it should tune on right away or after i turn the car off then on again?...thanks, i wanna try this.
turn the key to the on position, turn the screw all the way to the left until it cant go anymore, then the cel light will be on again, then turn the car on and see if the cel light goes off, hopfully it does, or your car has a problem heh
