Check out some New Zealand Maximas/Cefiros

I surfed around some NZ websites and found some photos i made a photo gallery out of. Check out the photos and post up your thoughts. With both the Cefiro and Maxima in A32 chassis there are lots of differences such as engine: VQ20DE, VQ25DE, and VQ30DE. I have also noticed what we call the Mevi is fitted on most all the Cefiros.

check out the gallery here:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...p?ppuser=65484

again if you see anything interesting for a discussion post up. as i have time i will try to get out and take some photos of maximas out on the street. i saw some crazy things today. An A32 white cefiro with apexi cone filter, manual tranny which is extremly rare here, vq25de with some sort of mevi, and black steelies. then out on the streets i saw an SMX Maxima. Supposed to be only 120 made in the country. these are good looking cars. i finally find out steve millen is from new zealand which might explain why they exist. Im not 100% sure the steve millen is from here but it was something i was told.

one more thing. a guy over here talked with JWT about upgrading his ecu out of a 95 cefiro with vq30de. jwt had him open the ecu up and after much talk found out they could not upgrade it ? have a photo of the ecu in the gallery as well.

Very cool! I always wondered what it would be like if they made a 4th gen wagon. I would buy one if they sold them here!

Yeah those pics look really cool. It would be a nice conversion for some I30 people.

If you haven't noticed the engine bay of RHD Max/cefiros are ridiculously crowed on the car's right side. The brake (and clutch if manual) master cylinder, steering column, and a few other things are now all shifted to the other side of the engine bay. It looks to me that the max was primarily designed to be LHD which is funny for a Japanese car.

Are you serious? My uncle just came from europe and asked what engine I have in my car. I told him 3L and he almost fainted, he said I'll kill myself in that thing. The gas over there is expensive and everyone except the US likes small engines that get great gas mileage.

my uneducated guess would be to save gas ? gas is an easy 5 dollars a gallon lately, and i spend an easy 30-40 dollars for half a tank

true on the fronts, on our us maximas the hood opens up and the front grille is not attached, on these cefiros when the hood is opened the grill is attached to the hood and GOES UP with the hood

18" ROH Zs wheels are on this maxima, they are made by a company out of australia i believe. a friend of mine just bought a set of ROH Drift R. real sweet rim that seems to popular in the states. You seem them on skylines here but this guy put them on a 200sx S14 style. looked real good but certainly was a heavy wheel in 18 x 8 .

Since JWT isn't able to upgrade the ecu from the Cefiro do you think it would be a definite guess that the Cefiro ecu is MEVI specified already?

Can you get any dyno graphs from over there for stock VQ30de's with the MEVI? I wouldn't doubt they look different than a US VQ30de with an aftermarket MEVI dyno graph.

Caesar - I bet you could make some good $$ if you could find some junkyard ecu's from nz-vq30de mevi's.

DO IT!

Any chance you could find some dyno plots though to verify the engine mapping?

very few of those around (maxima-cefiro dynos). it appears to me there would have to be rewiring of the ecu ? to match the us harness ( if thats the correct term?)

You're right...I suppose there would be some differences as far as the MEVI actuator and other parts would be concerned as well.

The new Maxima in NZ...isn't that the Teana over in Japan? Iirc, it is on its way to the US as a possible Maxima replacement. Don't quote me on that though.
