drop resistor

I don't have this mod active but is the drop resistor supposed to get so hot you can't touch it? Especially with engine idling only a few minutes? I haven't experienced any shifting issues but?

I know where its at and what it is I've done it before on my 00 GLE and its in the same location. Metal normally gets hot under the hood after the engine generates heat, though I've never actually touched the resistor after I started the engine.
