Clutch engagement lagging?

I just bought a 97SE from NY last week and have been very happy up until last night, in which I noticed that when you try to shift fast enough to chirp second, the clutch seems to be engaging slow...example- When I shift to second and release the clutch completely, then WOT, I can watch my tach. roll down from 6-4.5 grand, and it should have ALOT more grab then this in a 1st-2nd shift. I also notice it minorly in third. The owner claimed it had a Stage1 (forgot brand) clutch, and the car has 130,000 miles on it. I was told that it might possibly be air in the lines, and I need to bleed my clutch, but in fear that bleeding the lines won't solve the problem- I don't want to, lol.

Any advice? Anyone else have this problem?

could be slave cylinder, mastercylinder, adjustment, air in lines, bad clutch

Try not to rush the 1-2shift. Instead try this, Push clutch down fully, before moving the shifter, now shift to second with the clutch still down all the way, now release the clutch and go WOT right after. If you shift to fast, sometimes you're trying to do everything at once and the clutch never gets a chance to engage the gear before you hit the gas pedal after the shift, causing the revs to drop slowly.
