emission test

emission test

hi.
i have test pipe in my car and i just came back from emiision test.
i passed it how is it possible??

Not sure about IL, but in MA they've dropped the tailpipe sniffer altogether if you have OBDII. When you pull up for inspection, they check safety items and then hook up the OBDII. If you don't come up needing knock sensor, O2, or Evap. Control System, you're ready to rock.

P.S. You're lucky you don't have a 95/96. One of their O2s is on the cat.

Allright. Why would your test pipe cause you to fail the test? Are you getting a code? Is the check engine light on? If not you pass. I'm guessing you were there when they did the test? Did you notice they didn't hook up the muffler sniffer and only connected the reader under the dash to check codes? Also might wan to move this to the regional forums since different states have different emission laws and most people browsing the 4th gen forum have no clue about anything.
