How do I get a hold of Don for the VB Mod? I'm one of those unfortunate people w/ an auto max. It wasnt' my fault, I got it from my older brother two years ago. I'm trying to debate whether I should have a tranny swap or go for the VB mod since it will cost much less to get it done. The dealer wanted $2950 (complete w/ install) for a rebuilt 5spd. Any suggestions would really help.

Current mods: JWT intake, WSP ypipe, Eibach springs w/ Tokicos, clear corners, Apexi catback (future). I'm trying to save up for a new car. I don't know which one yet but the new 3series BMW are really nice though! I JUST WANT A MANUAL TRANNY!!!!!!!!!!!

$2950? That's it? That's a very good price... I've seen them up to $5000-$7000.

Man, I have seen the cars themselves sell for about the same price.

VB mod = Valve Body modification

VB mod = Valve Body modification. The valve body is an internal part of the automatic transmission which governs shifting behavior.

The valve body can be removed without taking the transaxle out of the car. To get the VB mod you remove the valve body assembly from your transaxle and send it off to "Don in Texas". He modifies your hardware and sends it back. You install it with fresh ATF.

The VB mod is said to make the transmission shift faster and with less slippage. It is supposed to improve acceleration and transmission life. I can't vouch for these claims because my Maxima doesn't have the VB mod. (My Maxima is a 5-speed.)
