voltage regulator question

I had a couple of questions about the voltage rgulater one is can i just replace it or do i have to replace the whole alternater.

The other question is when do you think the alternater might die if it has a faulty regulator becuase I have been driving with a bad regulator for at least 6 months.

I'm not familar with the max alternator, But I have rebuilt GM and Mopar alternators with ease. My guess would be if you can find the part. You can do it.

If your regulator has been bad for six months, it is more likely you have fried your battery. I could be wrong though.

well if your rebuilding your alternator, you have to replace that anyway. you should also replace the brushes. yea if your voltage comming out is more that 15V, you can fry your computer
