taking apart dash

i read the write up on painting my dash on vqpower.com and its awesome... but it doesnt say how to take off certain peices of the dash... i plan on doin this starting tomorrow so i def would like to know asap... anyone know how to get off the peices around the air vents, like the ones on the dash near the doors, and the peices around the door handles?? thanks!

I painted my dash about a year ago. THe pieces you talk about are almost impossible to take out without taking the entire dashboard out. I left mine in there, unpainted. I remember someone on here telling of how they pryed them out, but that sounds like they would break. I hope someone can give you a good way to get those out.

The pieces around the door handles are just clipped in. I carefully used a flat head screwdriver to take mine out when I did my i30 handles. I just cautiously pried/popped them out.

take a butter knife and just go around the trims, it will pop out. take the piece around the shifter first then work ur way up. u got about 10 screws to take off, the cd player on the dash. it wont break trust me.

thanks but i already got all those peices off... im askin a bout specifically the vents on the dash near the doors... i have a 97 if that makes a diff
