912 Dollars???

i went to nissan yesterday. i wanted to change spark plugs and spark plug wires just because ive never changed them since ive gotten the car. the total cost came out to 912 freakin bucks. i was like "hell no". the guy said that people normally dont change them unless something is really wrong. he also said theres one coil for each plug, they cost over $100 each. i endedup changing just the plugs on my own for 10 bucks. but can u believe that, 912 dollars. i dont know anything bout cars, so i dont know the truth to the guys' quote. so there u go, dont change them unless u have to, unless of course the stealership is lyin to me and chargin me for wut im not askin for! just thought i'd share guys.

Coil packs generally are around that price, your engine doesnt run without them

your better off going to a junk yard and taking them off a wrecked 4th gen, or go to the f/s forum there are some for sale cheap

try cleaning yours out, i have heard mixed results by doing that

and where did you get plugs for $10 and what kind are they

We don't have plug wires so when you said you want your plug wires changed the dealer figured, made you believe, that you need the coils too. Also I'm guessing you got some Bosch plugs? Get rid of them and only buy NGK.

What? It's the spark that moves the piston? Damn, I always thought it was the camshafts.

You can pick up some new coils for around $60-70 from what i've seen, and those can be changed easier than your plugs. Do it yourself and save yourself the cash. I also see wire sets a lot at work, they run from $60-120 depending on the model, never seen one for a 4th gen max though.

hehe...some expensive spark plug "wires"...

If your coil packs aren't going bad, you shouldnt replace them. Nissan must really take us for fools.

^? They have no wires cause each cylinder has it's own coil, not cause they're ran internally. Cars with plug wires have a coil that all the cylinders run off using plug wires.
