I think when my amp was installed, the vents weren't lined up properly so I can't control them like I should.

Thanks in advance.

That's what happened to me when I got my cd player installed. Just pry them out with a screwdriver, that's how i did it

I believe you have to take the entire dash apart. Start from around the shifter, then up to where the radio and a/c is, then the upper piece can pop out after the others are out. If you don't know where the screws are, go to

https://maxima.org/shoptalk/sub_modi...t1/index.shtml

i hope that helps

Install Doctor has good instructions with photos. This item ...
http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/647021.pdf
covers removal and installation of the radio. You need do only steps 1 - 2. Since this is a PDF file you will need Acrobat to read it.

Re: Install Doctor

I have a 97 se.
did the clock bright/dim mod.
no problem prying up/off the dash part with the vents and clock.
But I can't get it to snap back into place at the bottom of that piece.

Any hints/tips?

thanks

I just pushed it real hard with my both hands and it snapped back into place but be carefull you might break the plastic clip on the bottom.

I think you are talking about the piece with the clock snapping down at the bottom? If you are just pull down from the clock indent and it should go in. That worked for me.

I just fixed those vents. When you want to put that console back in, you can push it in vertically and it snaps it with no problem. Don't put the top in first. If you do, this is when you get the problem.

I did the reverse order and the bottom wouldn't line up to go in. When I push it in vertically all at once, it went in with no problem. Snap!!!, and that was it.
