Get the rims, cops can suck my ****. It will make the car more attractive to people as well as the cops though. Just get a laser detector.

there not too big, there not chrome, and they look almost like they came from the factory so you should have no troubles. Big chrome wheels, fart cans, and body kits is what they notice the most.

There are too many cars with aftermarket wheels here in San Antonio for the cops to really care. If its the same there dont worry about it.

I have never heard of being pulled over because of your rims choice. It just doesnt happen unless the officer really has a grudge against your choice.

ya, usually if the rims are chromed they would definately stand out more for cops, but then that can be said for a body kit as well

I myself work at the shack, and I use one of our in house ones, with compass (doesn't talk cause I don't care about that).

I use it more as a compass than a laser dectector (columbus cops really don't give a **** unless you are doing 85mph+), but it has saved me twice in the past year alone. Both times it gave me just enough warning to stomp on the brake a bit and get to a more reasonable speed.

Personally I don't like the cobras, but that is just me. If you can get ahold of an older radar detector (2+ years), the FCC had more laxed laws back then, and they were a bit better (like mine).

I have a Whistler 1650. It is a few years old but gives the best warning I have ever seen in a detector.(sometimes up to 2 miles on straight highway). My girlfriend had a new cobra and mine worked so much better than hers she sold it and bought one off ebay. The best thing is there is no annoying "Voice detect", its VG2 "invisible", it works for all bands including laser. 360 protection and you can still find them on ebay for around $35 including shipping. Mine has saved my *** many times.

Personally I think cops pay more attention to cars that have aftermarket wheels. I pay attention to the police's faces when I drive by just to see if they're looking and 90% of the time the cop is looking directly at my car, it may be the dark wheels on a light colored car making them stick out more though. Plus there arn't too many cars with aftermarket wheels in my town

I'm a cop, and I don't give a damn about rims. I notice the cars more, but it doesn't affect the tickets I write. As for the Laser detectors, do what you want, but I can tell you right now, that if I know what I'm doing with the radar or laser gun, I'll get you. Thats all there is to it.

D Warner speaks the truth.

Your laser detector will never see a laser until it is on you rown vehicle. Then it's too late. Rememger that a laser is a narrow beam of light.

However a laser almost certainly has to aimed, and stationary. (hiding on overpasses)

Hey konka85, what can cops do?

there are a lot of cars being produced with 17 in silver wheels on them stock now... maybe if you had chrome 20's it might attract attention but i doubt 17's will

I'm sure they saw your face and were looking at your car to see if its stolen. Cops sometimes get suspicious over a guy driving a certain nice car if they don't look like they belong in it.

I used to be a cop. All that has to be done is turn the radar unit off. After a certain amount of time on the job a cop can guess the speed of a car, so when goes by that seems to be speeding, a cop will let him pass then turn on the radar unit and they own you!!! What I do is get behind somebody going fast about 1/2 a mile back and go the same speed so if they get popped, I slow down. Still I got a ticket about 2 years ago outside of Beaumont. I was the only car and I was just talking to the passenger not even paying attention to my speed. Oh well.
