stupid indiglo gauge on/off switch

tried searchin but there are so many threads on wiring indiglo gauges that I couldnt find an answer. I have gauges that come with an on/off switch and I just want the lights to turn on any time i turn my lights on. As it is now, i dont have the switch connected and sometimes the gauges turn on and sometimes they dont. Like if i get lucky it will turn on the first time but there are times where I have to flip the lights on and off 10 times before i can get the gauges on. Anyone know how to fix this?

Just wire the guages to the dimmer switch so it comes on only when the lights are on.

they are wired to the dimmer. the thing is switch is sometimes initially in the on position and other times initially in the off position and its just a push button so there is no way to determine if the switch is set to on/off.

It doesn't stay on once you leave the switch in the on position?

I'd put it on and then stick the switch under the dash somewhere so no one can mess with it.

Or if possible, take the switch out of the equation totally.

Or get a switch that lights up when on.

once it turns on it stays on, the switch is removed right now but putting it back doesnt solve the problem it just gives me an easy way to turn it on if it doesnt turn on right away. I would like to not have to even deal with the switch cuz its kinda ugly.

Weird that yours has an on / off switch.

Mine came with a dial that controls the color from green to blue. I just put it to a shade I liked and zip-tied it behind the dash so it was invisible.

yah i guess i got what i paid for (ebay) im sure other people must have the same gauges I do tho. has anyone fixed this problem?

basically it seems as if the inverter is randomly on or off initially. There are only 2 connections from the inverter, power and ground both of which are attached to the dimmer. there is also a connection to the inverter for an on/off switch. I removed the switch cuz it's butt ugly. When i turn the lights on the gauges may or may not turn on. I want to wire it so that it always turns on.

so any fixes? or should i just deal with it or get new gauges.

hahahaha, i dealt with the exact same problem. they are my second set of reverse indiglos cause my first set died so i got these for cheap. anyway, its best just to plug in the switch and hide it cause the thing will not consistently work otherwise. i also hooked mine to the ignition, thats the only diff.
