Knock Sensor Relocation?

I was just googling "knock sensor" for different sources for replacement, and I saw this article that talks about relocating the knock sensor on a Sentra SE-R - now, I know it's a different model, but 1) is this just a way of tricking the ECU into thinking there's a dead quiet signal from the KS and 2) wouldn't the resistor bypass trick accomplish the same thing? I did do a search on the forum, and didn't see this talked about directly.

It has been talked about before. The thing you have to understand is the resistor trick is fine and dandy for a little while....but what do you think nissan put it in there for? Its to monitor the engine and change the timing acordingly so that you do less damage to the engine. Hence it wouldn't be the greatest thing to relocate it (since it needs to feel the engine knocks) or bypass it (leaving it to think the engine is perfect and driving itself to burn or blow out your engine.

Just my thoughts.

some have relocated the KS sucessfully in their max ( I honnestly think it was just 1 person) but it is where it is for a reason, please leave it there, if it malfunctions replace it as soon as possible.
