Read the stickies, pull the code, then post back with the code and do it quick before a mod finds this thread and gives you a vacation.

BTW - check your gas cap - it might be loose. You'll still need to look at the stickies to pull the codes stored and reset the ECU so the light turns off.

the reason was that the links in the stickys were down. i dont know if it was cuz my internet at work restricted me, or what not.

i was able to get on it now, but anyhow.. i looked at the codes 2 times, and i saw 7 long blinks and 7 quick flashes, followed by a pause and 7 Long, 7 short. so im pretty sure its 07 07. i went to the page and it says rear heated 02 sensor.

thanks for all the help. now will changing the rear heated sensor be doable? im gonna check the code 1 more time to make sure, so that it isn't a mistake.

i reseted the ecu, the check engine light.

thanks

Theoretically, replacing the rear 02 sensor should be easy. Sometimes they are hard to break loose and you might have to take it to your friendly muffler shop for them to heat it up and break it loose for you. Since you are in HI, you may not have too much rust to deal with so it might come off easily. Just let it soak for 10 mins in some PB Blaster and then go to town with either an open-ended wrench or an O2 sensor socket. We (on the mainland) can rent O2 sensor sockets from Autozone.

Cheers.

this is odd?? cuz i resetted and turned on car and reved a bit and turned on the a/c and the CK ENGINE LIGHT is gone. so did it pull a fake? or did my gas cap make it throw a false code???

i checked my cap and i don't think it was in a wierd position? but then i didn't know a gas cap would make an engine throw a code.

i have a 97 with 65k miles. i guess i gotta pick up a haynes to locate things.

If the o2 sensor is bad, the code will repost. just wait until the code reposts (if ever). Until then don't worry about it. And definitely get a Haynes - its not the best, but its useful for all these types of problems and just to get a general idea of where/what/why and how.

Mine did the same thing. I later found out that one of my O2 sensors is dead.

No. You need to do some reading... no making that a LOT more reading before you post any advice.

gotta read the thread..

anyhow, i drove the car to work and it wasn't a short distance or whatever, and car was at operating temp and all that. i noticed that the 'ck engine light' did not come up again. this is wierd, because the light went on as it normally does w/ the other dashboard lights during startup. (so it isn't burnt out)

do i need to pull the code again? or is the car alright now? i would think the car would light up again if it was a problem. this just seems wierd, so faulty codes do happen?

anyhow thanks for the help.

do you think you could point out which sticky?? there are a lot of them you know. if i could do a search i wouldn't of bothered to ask.. i thought i could maybe find a little help on this board.

anywayz, if someone could let me know which sticky has the information about the airbag light i'd greatly appreciate it!

From the "How to sticky":

How to reset SRS(air bag) light

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button located low on the B pillar, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF. Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

If the airbag warning lamp is still on (or still flashing), there is a fault in the Supplemental Restraint System which must be diagnosed and repaired. This is a job for your local friendly Nissan dealer.
