Broken Trunk Latch... will not close, tied down with bungey cord
Story:
So my buddies from Utah came to visit me @ School about a month ago. AS a good friend it was my job to have everything ready for them. I went and bought the finest keg sold this side of the mississippi. I had gotten the keg of KeyStone Light in my trunk and drove home. Upon my arrival at home the trunk lid would not open. I had picked up over 10 kegs since i've had my car and this was the first time my trunk would not open. I pressed the electronic opener and got nothing. Used the key and eventually got it open.
Cliff of story: keg slammed into Latch
Situation:
Electronic mechanism- still works fine
Latch- will not stay open or closed, if it set it in the closed position it will stay closed. If set in the open position it will stay open.
Has anyone had to fix one of these? Any guestimate on cost? I would take it to a dealer but my 9-6 job keeps me pretty tied up with time. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Brandon R.

1. Trip to local junk yard
2. Unbolt the latch mechanism from old trunk
3. Replace your broken one with the one you just got.
4. Go test the new latch durability by picking up a few more kegs

It's probably out of alignment from the keg hitting the rear body pannel.
Pull off the interrior trim and have your friend get in the trunk with a flash light. Close the trunk and take a look at how the latch is lining up. Adjust as necessary to make it catch again. You might have to pull the body pannel slightly inward to get it back in line. Keep a hammer handy.
