Looking to buy a max

Well my first car was a 96 GLE auto almost fully loaded and i loved that car. it broke and now i have a ford focus =[. Anyways im lookin into buying another 4gen probally 96+. I am really looking for a nice body and i dont care how many miles are on it because i plan on learning how to rebuild the engine. About what price range am i looking to spend on a nice looking max with high mileage and if i were to eventaully rebuild the high mileage engine woudl it be worth it in the long run.

Here in Texas, it is hard to find much low milage on older cars. I wouldve gotten a 97 5 speed but I was in Iraq at the time! Oh well, but the manual 97 I saw was 3 months ago, 53k on it, only $8500, and this is Texas driving conditions, where the places of business and driving is a bit far then normal.

There are many Maximas that have made it past 200K. Also, getting low mileage used engines is pretty cheap... cheaper than rebuilding it in most cases. 96 speed with decent miles and good condition... expect to pay 5 to 5.5k. Happy searching.

Damn black on black 5spd. Just what im looking for. You have an AWSOME car dont let that go lol. I only saw one of those for sale, but unfortunately the previous owner didnt know how to clean the max, take care of it, and all of above that is needed for a car. Thanks for the info. Ill have to keep on saving up.

yea, whatever you do end up with... before you buy, check the records thoroughly, get it inspected and look around for stuff taht might be wrong. listen to that engine, tires and susp. ya know...
odds are if yer gonna rebuild the eng, ya know a little about the car and what its susposed to do.
i bought my 96 SE loaded, with 82k on it i think? for $7k, and got lucky cuz i didnt get it checked out and have only had to replace a couple of belts.

its not the engine you want to rebuild...it would probalby be the transmission first.
