Touching up Windshield Wipers

The paint on one of my wipers is coming off in some spots. I was wondering if anyone has ever touched up their wipers before and what kind of paint they used.

konak: Actually, I think he's talking about the wiper arms as opposed to the wiper blades.

superblack: Check out an Auto Body supply store (...or even your local Auto Parts Store) for the matte black paint for the arms.

yea, go to Walmart or similar store in the paint section. The paint is actually a camo paint, thus being ultra flat black. it is the flattest back i was able to find so i suggest that because your dont want that crap to be shiny.

o yea, its part of the Krylon Camo Paint System.

Sand down your old wiper a little so the paint sticks better, cover stuff up with old newspapers and masking tape and then starts spraying Rustoleum.

Go to Walmart to the automotive paint section...they carry lots of Duplicolor products. Get the Duplicolor Metallic Graphite paint (I used this paint for my wiper arms as well as for the AE headlight mod). Also get a can of aircraft stripper if you don't have any already.

Remove the wiper arms (one 14mm nut on each). Remove wipers from the wiper arms and generously spray each wiper arm with the aircraft stripper and let them sit for about 10-15 min. After wetsand them until you have all the old paint off and spray with more stripper if needed.

Dry then spray about 5 coats of the Duplicolor graphite paint waiting about 10 minutes between coats. Allow to dry completely (2-3 hours should be good depending on humidity). Reinstall and enjoy (I actually did this YESTERDAY)

While working I saw some OEM Nissan wiper blade arms come through and they were only $17. Kind of shocked me that they were that cheap, nice to know if they ever get messed up you don't have to break your bank to get new ones.

Where rmurdoch when you need him? This write-up deserves some type of award for "Most **** and thorough wiper arm painting process"... damn - its just the wiper arms - pull that sh*t off, go to down with a can of paint and be done with it... no time for stripper and wet-sanding (although kudos to you for being thorough and doing it the right way)
