kinda quick urgent suggestions needed regarding shocks/springs.
kinda quick urgent suggestions needed regarding shocks/springs.
i just found out a relative of mines will be coming to hawaii, so in order to save money on shipping. i was gonna ask them to bring over some car parts.
first off, i know i have a lot of browsing and reading to do. i can't search. but in order to take advantage of this i am wanting to ask the members here for some qucik help.
i guess. i want to ask people here. what combo would be best for my 97 maxima. i am interested in purchasing some aftermarket shocks/springs. my goal is not to drop the car to the point where i'll need chamber kits? or cv boots ripping up every time. also, nothing harsh, mostly similar to stock, but maybe dropping it just a tad.
please suggest.. sorry to seem rush, it'll save me a lot of shipping costs.
P.S. so please post setup, drop amount, cost, vendor and duration of the setup.
thanks very much.

i haven't dropped my cars b4 or done that type of thing but i've heard from people that's all.
i heard that to a certain height ur cv boots will keep ripping more than often, maybe cuz its low enough to scrape things or added stress?? i d k. the camber kits thing as well, i guess it depends how much of a drop u do. but i am not much of an expert so ya. i do know that ride height and camber affect each other..
im not looking for anything harsh, more of a comfort ride. mostly of reliability and just somethign a little lower than stock.
any more ideas? pricing? etc.etc.?
thanks again.

Tokico Illuminas seem to be the best struts. They ride the smoothest and are adjustible.
If you want smooth ride and only slight drop then H&R, Tokico springs, and Tien H techs are some you should look at. Sometimes you can buy the tokico springs and struts together so you might save money that way. I have heard all of those springs ride well and are of good quality.

Normally you need coilovers to really have to worry about ripping cv boots and breaking axles. It can happen on stock suspension but it becomes a problem when you are slammed and you need coilovers to do that.
Camber kits are normally come in around a 2" drop which is sprint, and tien S tech area. Camber kits for our cars are pretty cheap though. You need an alignment anyway so if the shop genuinely says you need one then you will have to end up buying one anyway.
I have Eibachs and most of the ppl around here with maximas don't care about ride comfort as much as drop and performance so I really don't have personal comparisions for these type of springs.
