There Are Some Sick People in This World

Hey guys,

just wanted to vent a little... I was hangin out w/my girlfriend around brighton beach yesterday and had the car parked in the street. I'm not positive it happened there, but I'm fairly positive...anyway on to the point, when i woke up this morning and went to start the car, low and behold there was like a 3-4 inch scratch on the front passenger door. just ruined my day.. .why the f**k would anyone do something like that?? man i wish i caught them in the act... I know this thread is useless w/o pics..i will try to get some up when i get home. in the mean time, is there any way i could cover it up or at least not make it stand out as much?

Whether the scratch can be remedied easily depends on how deep it is. If you run your thumb nail along it, can you feel the scratch. If so there isn't much you can do about it, other than getting it repainted.

If the scratch isn't raised, go to an auto detailer and ask them if they can wet sand it out, cut polish it out, or use some other miracle product they might have.

if i were to run my thumb over it, yes i could slightly feel the scratch. In contrast to the paint its nice and bright white in color. i'll ask a friend of mine who works at a paint shop to see if anything could be done; i just don't want to use touch-up paint and make it look even worse (unless theres a way to make it appear natural and original).

No, don't use touch-up paint on it. You will just end up making a mess out of it.

Claim it to your insurance if you have a low deductible comprehensive coverage in your insurance policy.

Try Chips Away. They specialize in bumper scuffs, keyed doors, rock chips etc. They would just blend the paint in and not paint the entire door. They would then clear coat the entire door. You wouldn't even notice the work done. Paint mixing is all computerized these days. All they need to know is the paint code.

Check them out. They are a fraction the cost of a body shop.

No problem. Send some reputation points my way. I'm an unknown quantity at this point. But I've been that way all my life, lol!
