Knock Sensor Will It Kill Car?

Ok so I checked the codes and got a Knock Sensor code. I read the faq and all they say is that it will just affect the performance of the car. I also read the article on http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php about it. All they say is that it will affect the performance of the car. Since I won't be racing anyone I don't care that much about performance. I want to know if I don't change it anytime soon will it affect the life of the car at all.

Also I did no searching for this yet but what is the Front Right Htd 02 sensor heater?

I'm not 100% sure about the knock sensor as I have been trying to research this a lot lately too but as far as I have read it doesn't sound like it's a required part but as you know it will affect the performance of the car.

As for the front right O2 sensor.... I just replaced my own... if you got the code for it, it's really easy to replace but it's kind of an expensive part, about $75. There are tons of posts about what exactly the O2 sensor does so I won't try to explain it but I know that in conjunction with a "possible" bad knock sensor, it reduces gas mileage and performance but I don't think your car will "break" if you don't fix it right away.

I got the front right O2 sensor code AND the knock sensor code but only replaced the O2 sensor for now. Since the knock sensor is so expensive and I'm a broke *** college student I only replaced the O2 sensor. Once I replaced the O2 sensor and reset the ECU, I no longer got the code for the knock sensor but I'm waiting to see if it comes back anytime soon.

the part is $79 bucks - brand new OEM.

Your gas mileage will suffer and you will lose $79 in a couple of months that way.

+1. spend the 80 something dollars now, because you're going to waste a LOT on gas in the coming months. just watch those gas prices go up.

And the porformance will suck as.s. It wont kill your car, I had a dead KS for about 2 years, and now my car has 229k, and runs like a dream ... so stop being paranoid, it was not stated in the stickys as being bad to your car's health, so then why are you asking?

It's funny that you say it because my cousin owns a shop so I called him what's a knock sensor and the O2 sensor he said you got the knock sensor code because of the O2 sensor code. O well. I will keep searching for the O2 sensor repair.

Why you on my case with every topic I make lolol? I wanted to make sure that they didn't forget anything. I also learned something from this no one mention in the stickeys that it kills gas mileage. So this is gonna make me change it.

With the mileage you put on, what would possess you to drive for about 2 years with a dead KS particularly given you said performance sucked?

Were you just lazy or too cheap to replace it?

That's what I was thinking, but then again, I have been using like 87 octane gas so I wouldn't be surprised if there was actually some knocking.

I know Autozone wanted like $169! Definately too expensive. On EBAY they go for about $80-110 I think. You'll have to shop around.
