Y-pipe question

I'm looking for a Y-pipe and found a Warpspeed pipe on Ebay for $199 shipped. There are also some other Y-pipes that are going for around $100 + shipping.

First question is, the Warpspeed one advertises that they have eliminated the "bees in a can" sound in their product. Is this accurate?

Second, would it be a bad move to get a cheaper Y-pipe or is going more quality with Warspeed generally the wiser thing to do?

Last question, are headers a good idea or not worth it? The Warpspeed ad denounces them as effectively useless.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

headers are only useful if u get the whole setup. ie cattman headers with y pipe. most headers for the 4th do not fit correctly with a different brand of ypipe.

i have the warpspeed ypipe that is aluminum and i have no bees in the can sound, but them again i have a catback 2.

go with a warpspeed pipe, and dont get their "new" design, go with the normal one. and since you live in sunny ****ing san diego there is no point in getting the stainless steel one.

Why not their "new" design? What's the difference?

I may be moving to Boston in a year or so. I think getting the stainless is the safe bet for me.

their new design doesnt have hte standard flex section. its kinda hard to explain, you should look at a picture. the reason i say dont get it is that when it came out a few people were complaining about it. basically its more expensive than the normal one and dose not give more gains.

It all depends on where you live. Summer all year = warpspeed... aint it 160 with group deal? Winters = SS budget. I just ordered one ~225 shipped. Ive seen / heard the budget y on a max day 1 and after 2 years... still perfect. Cant wait for mine!

ok you guys are suggesting this pipe, but i was looking at the cattman y pipe.. kinda expensive at 350$ but is that worth it?

here it has some other options.
http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaYpipes

im not sure how old that data is, can someone update it? i mean me with mabe newer info?
i want alot of HP and good low end... i dont care about noise but i rather not have it, chances are even if a pipe is noisy you can produce the same results without noise... i think the cattman is the better idea, but im not sure if its worth it, i mean 350$ compaired to under 200$ for a budget pipe... i want it to last without having to change it for a long time.

Cattman y-pipe isn't really worth the money from what I've heard. It's going to give you the same gains as any other y-pipe, and it's SS just like the Budget. Why spend the extra $$? Just get the Budget SS.

they all give the same gains. warpspeed is cheap and ships fast. no reason to spend more on something that does the exact same thing.

I have the Warpspeed pipe. I got it in the GD as well. So far so good...and having it in Spokane (think lotsa ice/snow/slush/salt) and Portland...it's held up incredibly well for not being stainless. No marks of any kind anywhere.

so who votes for a budget ypipe here: http://www.lssexhaust.com/
or warpspeed ypipe from warpspeed of course

i guess performance is the same, but which is better in design and or construction, (AND FITTING/INSTALL).

I had no problem at all with fitment. It went smoooth, and was a quality piece. Very nice looking and durable. (Then again, I've heard good things about Budget too. I almost bought one before the GD came along.)

It's crap. Whenever you rev past 3 grand, there goes the raspy garbage. Sure, it gives you the gains of a normal y-pipe, but it sounds horrible. I didnt' spend 500 on a catback exhaust for it to sound like crap because my y-pipe is poorly designed. I'll be getting a budget pretty soon to replace mine.

Budget and warpspeed are good options. Yes, IF you have the money and want the best "piece of mind" grab a Cattman because they are the best. But if you are a bit more conservative with your money and still want a product that performs good, by all means grab a budget or warpspeed. Just go with what you think is best for you i.e. stainless steel etc for your situation and where you live. Good luck ^^

Ce Y Pipe?

So the question still remains, is anybody running a custom enterprise y pipe?
Are they quiet, loud, not much louder than stock? How do they compare to Budget and/or warpspeed? Looking to get one and inquiring minds want to know. thanx

Ya its cheaper but remember the WS one for $160 IS NOT SS. Its aluminzed. The GD on custommaxima ypipe for $199 is SS. But noone seems to know much about it. That's why I bought from budget. SS with known good quality.

I'm either replacing my super-flo with a CE or Budget y-pipe. I've never heard anything bad about the CE, but that may also be because few people own one. Lately Budget has been getting a bad rep.

A slightly more "throaty" sound. With just a Y-pipe and stock catback its not bad at all. Still sounds fine.

i have just a stillen catback system, and a stillen k&n cold air intake, it is abit noisy i admit but i love it!!!!! when someone is pissing me off i rev and they move their assess, or i get more mad that they are going 10under flash my lights and beep like crazy, damn lazy people... lOOK AT THE SIGNS!

lol, anyways im going to put in the new y-pipe either this friday or saturday (if im lucky) else it will be next week.

this car will probably sound abit more noisy. i dont suggest a stillen catback system - from what i hear from the gereral jist of things is that there mufflers are loud in compairison, use the stock mufler or something else, the gain is only like 3hp or so i belive so your not missing out on much. (i think you can use the bpipe and it would be fine, but i dunno how that all works, i bought it allready with it on there).

the cold air intake might also make some of the noise too, you could probably mod the stock box for better performance instead of using a cold air intake :P that might make some better gains and have less noise.

Here's a quick question, I checked out the site http://www.lssexhaust.com/ that was mentioned here as a good place for a Budget Y-Pipe.

This site lists "F-Pipes" and they look similar to a Y-Pipe. Are they the same thing and I'm just an idiot or is it a different animal?

Thanks.

f-pipe is the same, f being the shape it is, not describing the y shaped collector that makes people call them a y pipe. im going to order a cattman, heard they are the best, and the first, and then eventually i can get a full exhuast. then ill have no fitiment problems.

damn right!
There are a lot of naysayers, so I ask all of you,

who's y-pipe has ever rusted out?

(not including pipes that were wrapped)
