People who have re-painted your car step in..

I'm looking to repainting my car the same color, just a new fresh coat of paint. How much can I expect to pay for a good quality job?

What if I want to change color?

2-3 grand. sometimes more. you need to call around and ask because you might get lucky. the shop that did mine charged 800 for the same color and 1400 to change it. my paint turned out really good too

A word of caution: Don't take your car to Maaco or any of those shops that advertise cheap price. You get what you pay for, I had first hand experience on this. After 2 years, my repaint is starting to fall apart. And when I thought they followed the paint code for my car, well they didn't. I realized this when I peeled the black vinyl covering on the door pillars. The color is way off.

I'm now saving up for a good custom paint job, I'm thinking graphite or titanium. The only thing I'd have to do after that is change the interior to black or grey.

Yep. Maaco and other cheapo places don't do the job right. The paint and clear-coat alone would cost more than they charge. They use a one-step paint that doesn't need a clear-coat on top. They also don't sand down your car before painting. The use a liquid (forget the chem) to prep on top of your old paint, then they spray the one-step paint on top.

If you are lucky it will look decent for 4-5 years. If you are unlucky it could start peeling and look worse than before you painted and in only a short time!

Either step-up and pay big bucks or get out the polishing compound/claybar/touch-up paint and make the best of your current paint.

pearl white = a PIA to touch up properly, takes two different paints blended to make the color. My brother has a pearl white 300zx, and we've tried, but its hard to get good results.

you can get touchup paint from www.courtesyparts.com

You dont exactly need to pay 3k for a paint job of the same color. There are shops that will do it for about 1500-2000. Since its the same color, its not as big of a hassle as changing the color.
