Service Engine Soon light went on

Well I was driving my car rather hard yesterday messing around with a few cars and a while after that i was cruising and suddenly i notice the service engine soon light on. Would anyone have any idea wat it could possibly be? I am going to my mechanic today so he could put it on the computer to see wat the problem is but im nervous. i cant think of anything that could possibly be wrong with the car. it runs great, no flaws even tho it has 103K miles on it. I do need to clean the air filter a lil too but that couldnt be it, could it? thanks

Probably an o2 or the ks sensor. Happens all the time.

Wow, you can tell that just from knowing his CEL is on? I've never seen a KS cause the CEL to go on. Happens all the time to whom?

Same thing happened to me. Driving on the highway, it was fine, till a little spirited driving against a camry (who I left behind doin about 105) after about 25 miles the CEL came on. I pulled the codes, rear O2 sensor and KS.
Change the O2 sensor first, reset the ECU, and usually the KS code will dissappear.

It's too early for this level of stupidity... so you'll have the bear the brunt of my "newbie post frustrations". For the eleventy-beeleeonth time, the knock sensor alone will not set the CEL. You have at least one other code stored. Read the ECU code retrieval instructions again and make sure you watch for ALL the codes, don't just assume you're done after you see the first code.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^what he said. there are at least 2 codes stored. And no, having the ks out will not harm your engine. it will just run on retarded throttle so as to not damage itself. therefore you will have ****ty preformance, and ****ty gas mileage. recheck your ecu...pull the other code...get the other part (most likely an O2 sensor, and they arent too expensive) fix it...and reset the ecu. the ks code will probably dissappear. if it doesnt, change it. i say good day sir.
