Cut shifter, and re-thread
Dang...that must have taken a day to do! I'm going to skip the tap and die because I really don't need the shifter to be threaded. My **** came with this threaded plastic sleeve so that the **** can screw on it. I just have to find a way to keep the plastic from slipping off of the shifter. Any suggestions guys?? Would liquid weld work?

Need a little muscle power but at least metal pieces & sparks don't go all over the place, I pushed a hole through an old shop rag to cover the shifter housing to catch the metal bits.

No. I put 3-4 layers of duct tape on the shifter and then I jammed the **** down. It didn't move at all so it didn't bother me. Now that I got the sts I'm thinking of cutting it as well and might die it if I can find a cheap tap/die set.
Hehehe, does anyone have SPELLBOUND for FIREFOX? If you type in STS, it wants to change it to TI TS.
