at a shop like pep-boys, your talking abuot $250 just for the back. i'm thinking maybe like $500 + since you most likely have to replacce your brake pads also.

If your rotors and pads need to be replaced, have you determined the condition of your calipers as well. Perhaps you can machine the front rotors, but the rears are relatively thin and I was advised not to machine them but rather replace them. Sorry I can't help you on price, other than to mention that sometimes its cheaper to find a shop that will let you provide your own parts.

I did that recently and ended up getting two rebuilt rear calipers, new Raybestos rear pads and the brakes cleaned and flushed for Cdn$400 or about US$325. It would have been at least Cdn$1,000 at the stealership.

mechanic shop will rape you..

buying rotors yourself 40-80 a peice... although you'll most likely have to replace brakes as well.. but you didn't mention what the problem is/was so i'll leave it at that.

Well, I have some scraping in the back right. I figure its prob damaged the rotor. Ive done brakes many times but only front pads. Any how to's on rotors and rear pads??? I know the rear pads are similar except you need a tool and something about twisting?? can someone elaborate??? Id love to save the money and would enjoy the work of doing it myself if someone can hook me up with how to's... And ofcourse, Id buy a Haynes Manual lol.

Thanks so much!

Brembo blanks, OEM pads, done deal. Can't go wrong with that combo. 40 bucks per rotor and 60 bucks for the pads.

Get a Haynes and go to www.motorvate.ca and that should be all you need. The only difference (major) between the front and rear is the rear piston is twisted in, not compressed in. Get the Haynes, read it, and you'll see what that means.

Yup. You might have to use a mallet to coerce the rotor out - sometimes they get stuck on. But once you have the caliper and torque member off, you just bang the old one off. Replacement of rotor/pads is the reverse process (with lots of cleaning/relubing). Work slowly and carefully - so you can minimize the chance of squeals, etc. For the rears you also have to make sure you line up the piston so the little nub on the pad seats into the piston groove. Once you have it opened and have the parts, you'll see what that means.
