Yes, just get 5 194 bulbs and you will be fine. Personally, I'd shy away from blue, as I got two sets, and on both sets, whichever bulb I put in the slot behind the right half of my speedometer would always turn purple and look like crap.

I've got read 4 LED bulbs in now, and I reccomend those. You'll get hotspots with most, but its not a huge deal IMO.

I say get LED 194 bulbs, and pay a few more dollars. Do it right, so you won't have to do it four times like I did ;(

Email these people for led bulbs: ctlumination@***.net. Just tell them the size and color. I usually get led bulbs from them on ebay. And yes....from what i can remember, the inverted bulbs are the ones which spread the light. Those in your link look good.

Black maxima how many LED you used in your gauge? I want to make mine red and i'm wondering how many bulbs are in the back of the cluster? Should i go with the single LED or the ones with 4 LED together?

Thanks

Thanks, yes same exact ones! They don't give you hotspots. I wish I saw that auction. I would of taken 10 bulbs for that price. Comes out to be $1.something per bulb. Mine were like $2 per bulb...

There are 5 Bulbs in my 96. There might be 6 in the 98 and 99's? I would go with the Inverted Single LED Bulbs. They do not have hot spots and will not blind you. Stay away from the 4-LED Style ones.

If you're going to use singles, better get the inverted one's here's a pic of mine ( non inverted) with 6 Led's per bulb ( 5 bulbs total) also on my web are pics with 4 and 1 Led's per bulb. Single non inverted will NOT be bright enough!

Mine are bright enough. They are brighter than the picture. It's really personal preference. I didn't want to go to bright. These are very even and no hot spots.

EBAY! Search for "Inverted 194" or something like that.

do you need to do anything to the needle to make them blue or does the led change the color of the needle on its own?

On my 96, the blue LEDs made the needles blue all by themselves. I'm not sure about the 98 Maxes.

Inverted is just one LED bulb. It has a wide viewing angle and desperses light around the whole bulb. That means you won't get hot spots. The 6LED and 4LED bulbs are brighter and have a small viewing angle. Meaning it will give you hot spots.

My needles are not orange during the day light. I believe they are white, which is basically clear.

Hey check my webpage, so you can compare between 4 and 6 for brightness, but take it from me, the 6'rs are as bright as they come without modifications, any wider and the bulb wouldn't fit in the gauge hole. I like the idea of the inverted one's they look nice in Black Maxima's but I just can't believe 1 single inverted LED granted will ellimnate bright spots as it projects a wider angle but it just can't be as bright as 6LED's per bulb, maybe I should just get a set of inverted one's off ebay and throw them in to compare??? Nah I'm really happy with the 6.

Ok, now here's the link many people will need once they get their bulbs. This will tell you how to take apart your dash:

MeanBean has a wicked setup. No hotspots or anything.

Bulbs are ok, but the key is to solder on leds.
