post y-pipe removal noise?

i've had my budget y-pipe for 2 yrs now with no probs whatsoever. it seems as if my exhaust has gotten progressively louder, and since i commute so much now i was thinking about installing a stock y-pipe because i'm getting tired of the sound. i was about to swap pipes with another org member but i'm afraid that even with the stock y-pipe my exhaust will still be loud. has anyone tried going back to a stock y-pipe after significant time with an aftermarket one? i feel like the increased flow from the budget pipe may have taken its toll on the catalytic converter and muffler. i would hate to swap pipes with someone only to realize it wasn't the y-pipe making the growl and i'm stuck with a car thats just as loud and slower to boot.

Could it be leaking or a bad gasket?

i'm not sure, its more of a low growl that i hear right off of idle. its not a bad sound, and it goes away above like 1500-2000 rpm. i just miss how super quiet and smooth the max was when she was bone stock.

Just finished putting my stock one back on. My car is MUCH quieter than than when I had the ypipe on...kinda sucks, but ya, once oyu get your stocker back on, the noise will go away, provided you have some decent washers for the ypipe and cat.
