FSTB Question

I feel like a total n00b for asking this, but does a FSTB (inparticular eBay ones) for a 5th gen fit a 4th gen? Common sense says no, but I could have sworn I saw somebody on here that had that it did fit in their sig.

My reason for asking is that there's a carbon fiber one I'd like, but it's only made for 5th gens. It's also cheaper than all the 4th gen ones when you factor in shipping and what not...

Thanks in advance, and sorry for being an experienced n00b

just a thought. Why would you want carbon fiber as a strut bar?? Kinda pointless becuase i'm sure it would do anything. If you want the carbon fiber look. get some carbon fiber stickers, and tape it over the strut bar. n i'm sure if the strut bar does work for the carbon fiber strut bar, it'll crack once it does

My Courtesy Front Strut Tower Bar fit my 3rd gen, 4th gen, and 5th gen fine. As long as the bar has enough clearance over the A/C lines ect.... you'll be fine.

Hmm...contradicting info here. Loe max, did you have to modify yours at all between generations? Did the bolts/holes all line up right, or did you have to bend any metal or anything like that?

The one on eBay even "bends" up at each end like the courtesy one, so I can't see there being any clearance issues if your courtesy one fit ok. The auction also says it has adjustable ends on it.

Oh, and, ImmaSquashYou, it's not entirely made of carbon fiber. It's billet aluminum with carbon fiber wrapped around it. But even solid carbon fiber would be fine, I don't see why you think it wouldn't work as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Formula one cars made of carbon fiber? It's light weight and strength keeping the car fast while protecting the driver in a crash.

Nope all I had to do was adjust the ends. Just remember that not all FSTB made a specific generation will fit a different generation. I just happened to get lucky and bought one that did.

No it doesn't apply, but the auction says it fits 00-03, and other auctions say 00-04, maybe that's a mistype though.

Loe max, this one is adjustable, so hopefully I don't have any problem.

Wetballoon, yeah...F1 cars are made of it. It's a very light, STRONG material. Which is why I wondered why ImmaSquashYou was worried about integrity.

4th and 5th gen strut bars are interchangeable and you can adjust the bar if it doesn't fit. I would be wary of buying a carbon fiber one though just because it's ebay and I doubt they'd use very high quality carbon fiber.

Well like I said, it's billet aluminum WRAPPED in carbon fiber...so no worries. Thanks for the info, though.

yup, i was worried because of e-bay, i mean, i know carbon fiber is expensive, and i'm sure that noone is going to buy a full carbon fiber strut bar that is well made when they only save like maybe 5lbs of weight by buying the aluminum ones. but otherwise, carbon fiber is very strong.
