Info on painting car
Hey guys, i was thinking of repainting my car, but im still unsure of what to do. Im getting a new unpainted bumper and spoiler, so i thought it would be a great opportunity. Even though i like the deep evergreen factory color, i was wondering if it would be cheaper to either repaint it the same color, as it would probably on need to be touched up in some places, or to just paint the car an aftermarket pearl white. What would be the difference in pricing since the factory paint is more expensive and such. Love to hear some input and maybe where i can get a good paint job, i live in miami, fl. thanks.

It will probably need some body work before being painted. Look into that first.
And when you say factory paint, well it's about if not the same price for all paints, even aftermarket, unless it's an exotic mix.
I think actually painting the car should be your main concern, as paint isn't that expensive and can be bought as long as you bring your color code with you wherever you decide to purchase it. BTW, I'd stick with the Green.
Chaning the color will requie more work too, since door jambs etc will have to be painted as well.

Why don't you call around and ask first, then post back and ask if it seems reasonable.
E55AMG2... is in your area, (FL) and, I'm not sure but under his user name it used to read "King of all that is paint" or something similar ... get ahold of him maybe

sticking with green will be around 2,000 to 2,500, doing a color swap will be around 3,500 to 4,500 depending on the shop and quality. I had factory pearl white, and then changed to white with blue pearl and it cost me 3,000 door jams and all, but I preped the car for paint at the body shop to make it cheaper.

I paid $1200 for mine. I prepped the car myself and taped it off before it went into the booth. I only would have been about $850 if I didn't add so much pearl to it. I changed my color just a little bit and you can tell on the door jams but no one would notice unless they knew what they were looking at.

Also, if i bought the paint myself somewhere and then took it to the shop, would it come out significantly cheaper?

you just have to ask the shop when you go get an estimate. some will and some wont. Preping the car envoles fixing any dents or chips in the paint, then wet sanding the whole car, taking out lights so there is on tape marks, folding the window sills back and taping them off, Painting is easy, I went to school last year to learn to prep and paint, prep work is the most important step. if you mess up and do fix a dent or chip, you new paint job will show. I wished i have painted mine my self, but i wasn't finished with paint school yet so I had to pay 3,000
