P0420, why must you haunt me

i've been reading all around the other forums and have read mixed explanations for this code. it's a front o2 sensor, its a bad cat, or you must get your ecu reflashed (on 2k models). i've read many accounts where the o2 was changed, but the code still appeared. ::Now i remember reading that electrically, 99 maximas are pretty much similar to the 2k max in the wiring and such. with the 2k max's, the correct fix was flashing the ecu per the TSB written for it. does a '99 ecu flash even exist?

Is yours still on? If so what was the end solution? Mine just came on yesterday but I reset it and then made a bunch more trips and haven't seen it come back.

wow this is so old. but yes, since july, the cel is on and off every 200 or 50 mile intervals, and then it'll stay on for about 500 miles. it's really random. i've gotten sick of it and feel that it's an electrical problem. i'll just live with it.
