strut boots

I read a few times where upon changing the front struts and rear shocks, you should use the font boots from a 95'mustang, and the rears from the 95 miata. (When lowering, the maintain strut travel). Has anybody done this?. And if so, is there a difference when done?

they don't fit like stock as many threads say. instead of sitting securely in the strut mount, they sit on the strut piston itself.
