What should I expect to pay $$$ for stock exhaust (cat-back)???
Hi,
I am fed up with my mess of an exhaust. I currently have a mixture of OBX pipes with the stock muffler that are driving me nuts. The muffler is rusting away while it is leaking from the bent flange, even after a new gasket.
I got a price quote of about $300 for a new cat-back from a local parts store, which seems a little high to me. Does anyone know of a cheaper place? or a good place to go? I would like to buy brand new.
Thanks for any help,
Dan

for a whole stock exhaust you could pick one up dirt cheap as many org members still have theirs collecting dust after upgrading. The Cheapest route would be buy a decent condition stock setup from an org member. The cheapest but newest setup would probably megan cat back and/or OBX cat back. Both guranteed to wake a few people when your comming home. But for about $130 over the OBX you can get a Greddy SP2 shipped.

i had mine done at meineke...stock cat back for just under 300, for the muffler is used a 5th gen bought from someone on the org...this set up works real well. this was also the cheapest price i got, and the service was great, whatever you do, dont go to midas, they are awful.

Thanks, but I am looking for a stock (not aftermarket) system that is new. I used to have an OBX cat-back system that sounded good, but it was just a little bit to loud for me.
Thanks,
Dan
P.S. - I have an OBX muffler for sale $45
email me at dr73874@mycia.net if interested.
Thanks,
Dan

I dont think you'll find a new stock exhaust system unless you want to buy it from the dealership for a ridiculous price. Make a thread in the for sale section and buy one with the lowest amount of milage on it. You should be able to find a dirt cheap deal.

I've considered going back to stock cat-back too (my b-pipe has never and will never fit right and drives me nuts. it also might be good to have a quiet car again...). Here's the price quotes I got from 2 shops in upstate NY (includes installation)for full cat-back with stock-like muffler:
Cole Muffler $289
Monroe Muffler: $335
However, if you just want the b-pipe (keep your aftermarket muffler) that will be a lot cheaper. About $117 - $125 for just the b-pipe. Then go to autozone and get an adapter to deal with the difference in size btw stock b-pipe and aftermarket muffler.
Or better yet, get a custom shop to make you a stock-size b-pipe WITHOUT THE OBSTRUCTION. The stock pipe has a huge blockage in it where they flattened it to get under a stupid hangar under the car. That'll really choke your car.
As for me, I'm sticking with the aftermarket for now. Might get custom-made b-pipe later though for a better fit and no rattling/banging around...
