Auto transmission troubles

Okay, recently I've been having some problems with my auto tranny, I've had 3 separate occasions where it wouldn't go into reverse, it felt almost like trying to reverse with the e-brake on, but was definately the transmission and not the brake. After reving up to about 2500, the gear would catch and go into reverse, I noticed that when it experiences this symptom, neutral seems to want to pull forward a bit while revving, and while in drive, it feels like I'm taking off from a higher gear, it almost seems like it's sticking in 3rd or 4th, but I have no idea, anyone heard of this before? Oh, and BTW, I know the response "Perfect time for a manual swap" will undoubtedly be posted at some point, but I want to say now that I am perfectly happy with an auto and in no way would I want my daily driver to be a manual, the weekend car is another matter all together.

It sounds like your tranny is slipping. Have you checked the fluid level and condition? You could have a bad pump causing a lack in line pressure, thus the slip. Start shopping around for a rebuild.

Fluid level is good at both hot and cold, the fluid isn't really dirty looking, and has no odd or burnt smell.
