probably ok, just take one out and have a look at it. if it looks clean, leave them in. if they look dirty or rusty, replace. it's a cheap, easy job, just did mine.

Change them anyway .. 5 years old .. I would do it when I was bored since it's not mandatory.

Are you racing your car or is it just a daily driver? For a daily driver you are fine. Keep those spark plugs in there at least another 15,000 miles (assuming your car is not having any problems that you think relate to the engine or spark plugs).

If you are really worried about them, you can always check them out to see if they are okay.

Many maxima owners with 100,000+ miles are still driving around on their ORIGINAL plugs. I don't recommend that, of course. I'm just saying that yours should be fine.

COme on man the Max is meant to break the spedometer :P I went 140 on the highways racing this stupid Focus :P stupid focus people pshhhh.(Beat him of course) Can't they understand that Maximas are Focus Killers and im surprised my car didnt break down on me considering it has 173,664 miles on it. Anyways i dont know if NGK is better than Denso im guessing they are. I have the Denso Iridiums. If NGK are better let me know so i can look into getting them on the next spark change.

I'm just agreeing with you. I'm at 104k on my original plugs. I also think it's a bad idea, and am picking up new plugs next week.

By "did it", do you mean replaced your spark plugs? If so, okay. But your plugs surely had more life left in them.

Of course, it's always nice to know that you are running at 100% performance. Although you were probably still at 99.9% peformance before since your plugs were probably fine...

Do u guys notice any major difference between the NGK VPOWER and NBK Platinum for out cars?

People saw the VPOWERS conduct better cuz its copper but the PLATS last longer. However, I was just curious if the plats really matter that much interms of performance, afterall it is the recommended PLUG type to use ??

I changed mines to VPOWER from 'autolite' and I noticed that it 'seemed' smoother, though my car has always been in good running condition. Maybe I'll try the platinums next time. About how much are they for 1 piece? I don't mind changing plugs cuz it's easy.

I had NGK Platinums and just switched to copper and it runs just as good as before. I figure for costing five times less and only having to change them twice as much I am gonna stick with the coppers from now on. But that's just me.

I suspect your car doesn't run particularly strong and your fuel economy must suck. Change those plugs before you have to get them machined out of that aluminum block!

I had Bosch 4 Platinium that were supose to last 60,000; I replace them as per got check engine light at 55, 000, they were totally destroyed, burned, etc.. I will never believe or wait for 60,000 again. Put the NGK copper $1.68 each and car feels better and got and extra 20-30 more miles per tank. Will chance in 30,000 miles. That means every year.

My OEM NGK laser platinum plugs have 59,765 miles on them and are going strong. My fuel economy is still better than just about every 4th Gen on the .org.

How exactly do you "CHECK" platinum tipped plugs? I suppose we should re-gap them too right?

I'm glad. Would be a shame to toss perfectly good platinum plugs...
