quality paint for my "wheels" what brand?

now don't laugh.....OK, go ahead because you won't be able to contain yourself anyway after you read my question. I have hubcaps and all 4 are loosing the silver coloring badly. i need advice on some quality paint in a can that works well and holds up to the elements,brake dust and Father Time. any suggestions on brand for the color/clearcoat? no, "get real wheels" posts please. i really do need to hear from you. you know who you are!

thanks, slicey

First, the obligatory laugh: Ha ha ha ha......

Good. It's out of my system.

Now, why not just get some new hub caps? The cost about $30 from an autoparts store. Or you can go on Ebay and find original Maxima hub caps for pretty cheap. I don't think it matters what paint you use, it will probably look pretty lousy (unless you manage to do a really careful job which is VERY TOUGH with spray paint.)

Good luck man. Sorry, don't have experience in painting plastic. From your title I assumed actual rims. Should have paid more attention to the quotation marks!

{PS - you can get stock 16" maxima rims pretty cheap usually from the classifieds section if you wanna upgrade without spending much money...}

would that be a Dave Sz reference, he is on global ignore, so I will take his place.

I think you should get a color that matches your car. That way, when you get real wheels, you can use the steelies as your "cool winter rims"

Exactly. Forget the paint. It will take a lot of work to make it look right and it might peel on you in a few months anyway. It's not worth the effort. I'd first try the classifieds on here, then Ebay.

Why not put a "WTB" post in the classifieds? I'm sure there are tons of people with a set of hub caps sitting in their garage that they'd sell for cheap...

Yeah. You could pay a bodyshop to sand and respray the hubcaps (lol gotta love the 4-gens!). Too bad that would cost more than just buying some more hubbies.

So whatcha gunna do? Take the dudes advice and find some Krylon for plastic that's silver and go to town. Or just run the steelies like the rest of the ricers. hehe
