HELP! Car is rusting

My 1999 Nissan Maxima is starting to rust. Mainly, theres a small slit on the door which doesn't bother me much because it can't spread. It's right on the part of the door on the inside that touches the rubber lining.

But I have two small spots of rust on the roof of my car that are about about 3 millimiters in diameter. I'm worried the rust will spread.

Do I need a paint job or can the rust be removed and painted over? Help, I really didn't expect my car to start rusting but I just noiced the spots wasing my car yesterday!

Take it to a body shop and get an estimate - if the rust isn't too deep yet, they may be able to sand/repaint.

I'll go out on a limb and say that it will be under $500. Do you have Chips Away where you live? Perhaps they can do it for a reasonable price.

Never heard of chips away.....
I think I know why Iam getting chips. Many cities in CT are in teh process of repaving roads and they leave the pebbles on the side of the road after paving. Cars in front of my kick up the pebbles and they hit my car. I also get a lot of knicks in the doors in parking lots because our parking spaces are very narrow. I'd love to get a new paint job and fix all the dings and chips

Chips Away is a franchise that fixes bumpers, keyed doors and paints chips for a fraction of the price of a full-service body shop. Check them out on the internet or the yellow pages.
