Projector Retrofit Worklog *DONE* 56k BEWARE

I'm going mod crazy this month. here's another one to add to the list, bixenon hid projector retrofit. There's already many write-ups for this mod so I'm not gonna show the whole process of doing this. This took me 1.5 hours to make for one side, not too shabby. On to the pictures.

Pics:

initial test fit

Shroud goes on (didn't fit at first so I had to trim it with the dremel)

I would prefer dual projectors as well but it'll be extra hard to aim and would involve a lot more work. A single projector setup would perform well enough.

Looks sweet but it looks like there is still a little glare coming out of the sides. I would put some aluminum tape on the sides and then put the shroud back on. BTW Are those e46?

those shrouds were mad loot, but they were brand new for 80 shipped. Back then they used to cost less than 50 bucks, I guess supply can't keep up with demand.

I think the small amount of glare enhances the look, as long as the light isn't on the output side as you can see in the cutoff picture, it's fine

And there you have it, my projector retrofit. Pretty simple. took around 8 hours for everything. Performance? love it, pot holes are spottable much farther away and I get that nice cut off line that goes up and down with the car.

Highly recommended mod, don't bother with those aftermarket kits because

1) they're illegal
2) quality is never as good as OEM
3) anything above 4100k and not made by phillips or osram has poorer output and life expectancy of bulbs/ballast shorter
4) hazard to other drivers with that obnoxious glare
5) high cost/low value

any questions, feel free to ask. All you need is a dremel and some nuts and bulbs from the home depot to attempt. I followed a powerpoint presentation done by a member. I've hosted it so people can download it as well. Enjoy

hawt is this something you'd be willing to do as a service for other orgers? i think it would take me 8 hours just to take the headlight housings out and take the lenses off.
