H-Tech's with stock suspension????
 

from what i've heard Tein S-Tech's will blow the stock suspension, and i was wondering if H-Tech's are the same deal? they lower about 1" up front and 1.5" out back, i think. anyway will i need to upgrade my shocks if i change em up?

im gettin 19s soon and i want my car to have a more agressive stance too

If you're going to be doing the work yourself (and don't mind the extra work) you could get away with it. Those stock struts should not blow if your roads aren't bad.

If you're doing the work and don't mind upgrading the struts in ~10k miles then go ahead. You can get away with it for a while, I did with Maxspeeds (similar drop) for maybe 12k before the struts blew. However, your handling probably won't be quite as good without the struts, and you will definitely shorten the lifespan of your current struts.

I would vote get a set of struts and do it right the first time, even if they are just GR-2s. I wish I had just done it once and not had to go back and swap in new struts later. It's your car though, and if money is tight you can put it off for a while if you don't mind the labor.

damn, maybe i'll get rims them ride high for a while and then decide on a drop, cuz im still not sure if i want to. thanks guys

i believe H-techs lower the front about 1.5" and the rear 1.0"

First... they are "1.6" in Front.. "1.2" in Back.. Like barely two fingers in front(if you got 17's), and can fit 3 fingers perfectly(without a sound system) in the back.

Second, I'm not sure you want to put that heavy pressure of being low and riding on stock struts in the front.. But if you want to take chances.. Go ahead.. But I would get the rims, and just keep saving up and get coilovers.. Because im sure if you dont like how the car looks with 19's after you get a drop, your going to want to buy a next set of springs and struts. Might as well do it right the first time, and buy coilovers

but see slc roads are not all that nice everywhere and there are several places i go a lot that i bottom out on stock suspension, so i want it slammed, but its not going to happen. i'll end up walking half the time.

I mean, if you want the comfort & handling, yeah H-Tech's will do it for you. But on 19's? with stock struts? That may be a pretty rough ride...

my friend has been running CUT sprints on stock struts for over a year now w/ no problems. im doing the same thing w/ my progess springs until i get coilovers. the ride is great.

i will say that hes got 18s w/ those cut sprints and the ride can be pretty rough sometimes tho.

With H-Techs you should be okay for a little bit, but I'd really recommend doing the struts at the same time. I ran with stock struts and H&R springs for about 6 months and the ride was okay, but got progressively worse. If you're going to get 19s than you are going to lower it eventually. And if you're going to lower it than you're going to get aftermarket struts eventually so I say just do it all at once. If you do the install yourself than you'll save a lot of time and if you don't you'll save a lot of money and time.
