Transmission Question
Transmission Question
hey guys/girls,
i was wondering if anyone could help me out with this problem. i actually brought in my car to a nissan dealership because I was too lazy to do my oil and had my timing belts replaced. Anyways i didnt really notice this problem until after i got it done (which was in 8/13/05). Anyways, the problem is as follows:
sometimes the car makes a lurching sound whenever i shift into reverse or drive after releasing the brake pedal. it does not always happen but it does make a weird sound. after i give the car some gas it does go away. it also appears to only happen when i have let the car sit without warming it up. the shifting is smooth but the lurching is evident only after i release my brake pedal. i put in some extra transmission fluid just to be safe and i have an auto. thanks for any help.

your doesnt have timing belts. it has a timing chain designed to last the life of the engine. if your repair order says timing belts changed. go back and get your money back. lurching sound or lurching movement(hesisation) could be bad coil packs.
sweet. should i attempt to do the coil packs myself? the drive belts are complete but if a larger consensus believes it to be the coil packs then i will get it fixed. how many will i need to buy and how difficult is it to do?

I have a question also....I'm looking forward to swapping my 95 auto for a 5 speed and i've been looking around for a tranny. I need to know if it really makes a difference of either getting the locking or non-locking differential? Also about that production date stuff...is it critical i have the correct one?
O yeah does anyone have a 5 speed tranny they are selling? I'm in desperate need of one, looking around $600-$800 for one. (Sorrry i would've posted this in the classifieds but the forums won't let me post new threads!)
