Most Rustastic Place On My Maxima

There is about a half sized fist of rust just under the radiator where the main bar that probably protects most of the car from a frontal crash.

Same situation here. I just bought flat black paint and painted it b/c you can see that rust right through the f/bumper.

You probably need to remove the rust before you paint, this will keep it from spreading. Even with rust stopping paint.

Haven't found many major rust areas on my max, which is a PA car and has ben through all sorts of weather. I'll look alittle harder when I get home.

what is it about Maxima's that they get rusty? I've got small rust spots on the roof of my car and a couple on the hood. Hood is no biggie, but jeez the roof? I dunno whether i should just get a new paintjob and have all the rust removed.

I also have a rust hole on the support beam under the radiator. You can see it right through the lower front grill under the license plate. It's about a dollar coin size right now.

I'm still trying to decide what to do about it.
Probably need to cut out the cancer (rust) with my dremel, screw on a metal bar on the inside, then bondo, sand, and paint it.

Kinda like fixing a hole in drywall..

or everyone could just used Por-15 and paint over the rust. This stuff will stop it eliminating the need for cutting, sanding and bondoing. www.por15.com

The only place ive noticed rust on my max is under my muffler, i got a nice hole that hasnt penetrated through, just the outer shell is damaged so far. I have no idea, besides replacing it, that could quick fix this.

I used to have rusty rocker panels, got them changed. I store my car from mid November to early April and drive a 500$ Ford Tempo in the winter (much cheaper on insurance), and first thing next year this car is getting a brand new paintjob.

I got tons of paint chips on the hood, two unpainted front fenders (brand new but still on flat black frimer), tons of scratches and a few 1-2 inch spots like bottom of trunk lid, below mirror on driver's side and middle of the roof right above the windshield where rust is forming under the paint. I decided it's worth getting the whole damn car repainted black and never worry about it again.

Last year I got rid of 100% of the rust under the car. A little sandblasting, pressure shoot, primer and undercoating does wonders. I had 3 mechanics ask me if I had the car treated to anti-rust when they saw the underbody.
