PROBLEM need some help

Ok, i was going up a hill and i floored it, then even after i let off the gas my car kept going like the gas was being floored. it really scared me. the car kept going like i was flooring it. i even had to run a red because i couldn't stop. when i went to neutral, it just revved to redline like i had my foot on the gas. it still does that whenever i start the car. still a little shooken up about it.

good thing i was near home and my friend was there to help me push my car. also a good thing it was 1am and no cars or i might have hit someone running that red. i drive a auto trans btw. anyone know what might be the problem? i'm going to call the dealership tomorrow. hope the warranty covers this.

My cruse control did this in my camaro once, find the fuse under the dash and take it out.

Also I had a friend who in a camaro too, the floor mat got pushed down and blocked the gas peddle down and car accelerated too fast to react and he went off the freeway at over 80 and hit an 8 foot concrete pylon. Ouch.

Anyway I don't think I would have the nads to take out the cruise control fuse and drive it again.

yeah, thanks for the concern. i got really freaked out. if it was durring the daytime, good chance someone would have gotten hurt pretty badly. i think i killed my break pads while trying to stop before the light before i gave up.

i didn't have cruise control on so i don't think it's that. and maybe it's the cable getting stuck, but i don't really know how to check for anything so i'm calling up my dealership tomorrow.

check your throttle linkages. if you recently installed a intake, make sure the hose clamp is not in the way of the cables

i don't think the problem lies with the intake. for one, i'm back to complete stock. two, before i even touched my intake, this happened before once, but only for a few seconds, then i gained control back *as in the gas let off* so i think the cable being stuck is the most likely cause. hope this is covered in my waranty.

Well, the throttle is not electronically controlled so it's definately throttle linkage related ... there's not other way physically possible in this world it could be any other way.

Warranty coverage, wth, it's as easy as 1-2-3, get under there and check to see where it's grabbing/sticking.

Stay away from the stealership, tehy'll you for adjusting a cable that could be done in a Wendy's parking lot.

Your car is a 98. What warranty are you talking about? The factory warranty has long expired? Did you buy the car 2nd hand from a dealership recently and they provided a warranty? Good luck with the stealership.

Open th hood, and follow the cable looking device connected to the throttle body. Make sure it doesn;t catch on anything when WOT, or even at rest. This happend to me one time, I had reinstalled my intake and went WOT,and it frekaed me the hell out Turned out it was sticking on one of the hose clamp bolt assemblies.
