I need everyone's opinion

i wondered what my maxima enthusiasts think about this. i am going to do the 95-96 mesh grille mod. i bought the concrete mesh, but i notice the color wasn't very brilliant and attracting. i plan on putting either "MAXIMA" emblem on the front or "BORY" on it and the lettering would be chrome. what color should i do the grille? Black, chrome or a red simialr to my factory max? its maroon or something like it. just wanted to see what you guys think. my girl says chrome on chrome since i already have chrome on other parts.

When blacked out, the 4th gen grill takes on a bit more aggressive look and personally, I like it.

post some pics, that would help greatly. I personally am not crazy about chrome. I agree, black makes it look more agressive.

how about this

what if i blaked out my mesh grill and blacked out the emblems also. the reason i asked about chrome was because i already have chrome every where else. by the way, if i were to want to change the chrome, could i buy the factory paint spray or should i go ahead and just buy new door handles????

I think it all depends on the color of the car, don't want anything to showy though

fyi:that mesh grille IS painted with chrome spray paint, (it looks white).
after i removed all my mesh i repainted my grille black with some flat black spray paint and my nissan emblem. i also used mothers "back to black" on the bottom valences to return them to ....black. they were looking gross and faded.

I would also go with black on there.

My family and I are thinking about getting an Armada (black one) a little down the road. I told my wife that one of the first things I might do is to take the grill to get painted all black.

i don't know chillin, my car is the same color, but with all clearlights and the chrome grille, it looks hell of nice. also i hate be the same as every other joker out there. i like to do different things. thats why i was so ticked that some one put "MAXIMA" (from the trunk) on the grille. i figured i would keep parts of my car chrome (such as the handles, grille.)

what if i made the mesh black and got it chrome lettering????

its kind hard to be completely unique when there has been many people before us who have experimented with customizing the front. I was in love with the mesh at first too but i just grew tired of it, and wanted a cleaner look. the mesh was a cheap mod, and it felt cheap to have it on there.
honestly i didnt really feel a theme going on with the "Chrome" mesh and white bumper lights/headlights with the chrome trim around the windows and door handle.
go for what you want to do though.

man....the set up is complicated. to put it shortly black zip ties connected to those little plastic vertical pillars in side the lower valences. if you looked closely on those pictures you can see little black dots where i had to loop the zip tie through a part of the mesh in a couple places. not really too complicated.

our cars aren't red....and i personally always thought if i used any shade/tint of red similar to our cars color, but not exactly the same as our cars color, it would look like crap. Kind of how people get their bumpers repainted and its just a LITTLE bit off of their paint job on their car and its noticeable. doesnt blend, and doesnt contrast either.
and if 2damax meant to get it painted the color of your car, i've seen that done with a beige max on our stock grilles and thought it looked like **** too.

what about this

first, my girl over here laughin her a** off at me for actually asking what color and what not. i take it very seriously tho. i kinda feel wierd now.

anyways, i think ima go with chrome mesh ( all thank to chillin's old setup) and i bought these letterings at an aluminum store. my next question should i go black lettering or chrome lettering or red lettering. i am so lost right now.

by any chance does any one know whether the paint job on maxima's is ruby pearl or another color? whats the code?? i checked the TS Bulletin, but i still ain't sure???

I think its ruby pearl. I remember someone corrected me and told me I don't have rosewood, its ruby pearl for the 95ers. Not positive.
I tried spray painting in black "maxima" over my mesh grill and I stenciled it all out and thought it looked terrible. Haven't tried any lettering though.
If you need any help wwith the bottom valences I can draw a diagram or something.

i would really appreciate a diagram. i'm more of a visual person. but it case your busy, i'll i do is cut out the gutter guard to fit in the lower holes and tie a tie-strap to the the skinny little columns right. exactly what are the valence?? is it the slots in the lower bumper or is it the columns inside the slots???

when i say valence i mean the whole opening. yes basically what i did was use those skinny columns. with my set up i used 2 zip ties for each point that i connected it to the bumper. (totaling 6 zip ties). i screwed one zip tie with the female end coming towards the outside of the bumper and cut off the rest past the screw. Then i looped another zip tie through the mesh, and then inserted it through the mounted(Screwed) female end and then through the female end of the one looped through the mesh.
i'll draw a diagram, i know that sounds confusing. if you dont want to screw into the colums im sure you could just make 2 loops.

Just out of curiosity, how do you open your hood when you have the mesh over your grille?

np , i'll draw that diagram when i get a chance in a little bit. i know what you mean, and i used to think it was gonna fly out but i've seen somewhere in the for sale section a guy selling an insert and it simply has rubber around the edges so you kinda just press it into the valence and i guess it stays? i guess you gotta figure, it will most likely be getting pressed IN from the wind anyhow.
check ebay for clear corners. there are a couple different kinds i think diamond cut...and some other styles, just look through your options on ebay.
i dont know what other accessories your asking about.
and Northern- the mesh goes around the black part of the grill..doesnt have anything to do with the hood. i dont understand your question really.

It must be made different cause I've got a 4.5 gen. The latch to open my hood is built into my grille, above and to the right of the hamburger. If I put mesh on my grille, I don't know how I would be able to unlatch the hood.

I think painting the chrome the same color of the car is fuggggly. I would keep the chrome silver. Home depot sells some nice looking wire mesh that you really don't have to paint...just to let you know.

dude that is going to look real good, i think black would look to much like the stock grille, red would be pretty cool, but im not sure how it would turn out, maybe you should experiment with the colors, my personal opinion is to do chrome, because chrome catches everybody's attention. good luck man! cant wait to see the results
