Which pad is better?

is metalic pads better than semi-metalic, i just recently bought metalic pads from autozone (duralast) ...

They last longer, but your rotors take a beating from them after a while.

how long are we talking for the rotors to take a beating? and why does the matlic pads cause you to push more down on the pedal?

Because the metallic pads last longer. The length of time it takes for the rotors to "take a beating" depends on the way you drive. I don't know why they may cause you to push down more on the pedal... I've never driven with metallic pads.
