Checking the ECU Codes

Checking the ECU Codes
I want to check the ECU codes for my 95 Maxima. While reading the stickies I saw directions to take off the cover from the self test module. But on my car there the plastic cover is held on with plastic screws without screw tops. Is there a special tool needed to take the cover off? Can I buy it at a local auto parts store? What kind of tools do I need once the cover is off?
Also, would it be more worth it to go and buy a diagnostic tool?
Thanks

Its very simple. I have a 95 SE and all you need is a flat head and phillips screw driver. Use the phillips to gently unscrew (about a 1/4 turn) the 2 plastic screws.
Pull the screws out by hand and then pull the plastic inserts out. The panel should fall off exposing the ECU.
Then gently insert the flat head driver into the screw on the ECU gently breaking through the plastic covering.
The rest is explained in detail on the ECU code sticky.
Hope this helps.

The screw you are turning inside the ECU is not really a screw, its Potentiometer which is a little electric component with a plastic screw type fitting on the front.. so be VERY gentle with turning and STOP at the stops.
