Polk Speakers

If i bought (4) 6.5" polk's and the harnesses, would it be a quick swap out or do y'all recommend that I get em professionally done?

Thanks!

what are you talking about? Do you want to replace your stock speakers with polks? Do you have bose?

Should be a direct fit. You dont need harnesses. 6.5 in the back will suck unless you get ones with good bass. Polk isnt really a good speaker for Bass

its pretty simple. maybe an hour. pop the old ones out. undo the connectors. hook up the new ones. screw them down. roll out.

well....an hour if youre familiar with taking off the door panels...if not:

theres a screw in the bottom of the hand hold. pop off the cover and unscrew it. two more on the bottom of the door. pop off the trim around the lock and handle. pull out the plastic hand hold. pop off the light cover and unscrew it from the door. for the drivers door, pop off the trunk release button. use a screwdriver and lift on the front of the window control panels to pop them out. then lift up on the door panel, it should come off with minimal effort.

Actually I think the polk audios are some of the best speakers out there. I've had a set of 6.5s for two years installed in the rear deck and people honestly thought that I had a sub in the trunk. They were running off a Sony Xplod head unit that I got for two DVDs from a good friend. This setup was very loud. Bass was booming and highs were ok. The Sony didn't have a three way equalizer, just highs and lows. Recently I got a Pioneer Mp3 headunit that works extremely well with the polks despite one of them being blown. I've been researching some good replacements to get all around. The pioneer speakers in the front f***ing SUCK!!! Use the harness too, looks better than splicing and its easier.

I actually have those same speaker in mine. I had to build a little frame to fit the polk db650's in the max stock area, reason = stock screw holes were off just slightly from the polks. So I used a piece of sheet metal (thin) and basically just traced around the polks (upside down on a table) then used insulation between the frame and the speaker. Screwed everything in and voila!

if you are a *bose* max owner then you will need to rip out your stock speakers and amps and use all new wiring, not to mention forget about using the stock deck. Thus its easier to just run a 4 channel amp to power them and it sounds better anyway.

Im using a 4 channel infiniti amp to power mine, please power those polks they will not see true potential with crappy deck power! Plus its easy as hell to run a 4 channel amp to power them.

and yes, they are decent for bass if you are not needing sub-powered bass, actually theyre dynamic range reaches lower than infinity's thus they are better for bass then infiniti.

and ps. Use the harness's dont cut corners with these, I did and I regret it! makes things much easier for the future
