SSR Wheels
#1
I plan on buying a set of 18' SSR GT1 wheels with 235/40 tread on them. I noticed that these wheels are pretty light. Are these quality wheels and will they be able to withstand some potholes? (I live in MASS) Any comments or experiences with these wheels will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A number of folks with Miatas have SSR wheels. Judging by their comments and the price of the wheels, they are good quality. I don't think any 18" wheel will last long on NE roads. (I live in NY, and wouldn't even consider 17" wheels.)

what in the world?
im wonding what kind of tire pressures you plan on running. i have had 4 sets of aftermarket oversized wheels in MICHIGAN... voted worst roads in the country a number of years running.... and i have NEVER EVER EVER dented a wheel due to a pothole. i deliver pizza, and have been doing so for 3 years in some "not-so-good" areas of town where the roads are absolute crap... in fact i blasted LARGE pothole last night being stupid and not paying attention to where i was going... got out and looked... not a mark on the wheel. im just wondering, do people actually bang up their wheels often on potholes? i personally dont factor potholes into my wheel buying equation... my brother has been running 18"s on his BMW for 2 years now as well and has not a single scratch. obviously if you plan on hitting potholes at 85 mph then you might have a problem... but as long as you are conscious of how and where you are driving it should NOT be a problem. what gives?

They are very good wheels. They are manufactured with a proprietary semi-solid forging technique. If I had to get a different set of wheels, I would definitely get the SSR GT1s.
